petrol pump strike rumours Pakistan

The All Pakistan Petroleum Pump Owners Association has firmly denied reports of a nationwide strike, assuring the public that petrol pumps across the country will continue operating without disruption.

Speaking on the matter, Vice Chairman Nauman Butt dismissed circulating rumours about a shutdown from May 1 to May 5, calling them baseless and misleading. He clarified that there is no plan for any strike and that all fuel stations are functioning as usual.

The association emphasised that the supply of petroleum products remains stable and uninterrupted. “There is no truth to the news regarding closure of petrol pumps. The public should not pay attention to such rumours,” Butt stated, urging citizens to rely only on verified information.

He further stressed that petrol pump owners do not support any strike call and have no affiliation with the claims being shared on social media and other platforms. The association reassured consumers that there is no risk of fuel shortages or service interruptions.

The clarification comes amid growing concern among citizens who feared possible disruptions in fuel supply due to the widely circulated reports. However, industry representatives have made it clear that operations remain normal nationwide.

Experts note that such rumours can lead to unnecessary panic buying, which may create artificial shortages despite adequate supply. The association has therefore urged the public to remain calm and avoid rushing to fuel stations unnecessarily.

Authorities are also expected to monitor the situation to prevent misinformation from spreading further and to ensure smooth fuel distribution across the country.

With the association’s clear stance, consumers can be assured that petrol pumps will remain open and fully operational, and there is no need for concern regarding fuel availability in the coming days.
